| My whole house...ceiling, walls, etc. is infested with mold. What can I do to treat and keep it from coming back? If your whole house is infested, the first thing you should do is purchase a home mold test kit to determine what type of mold it is. These kits can be found at most home improvement warehouses such as Lowes or Home Depot. If you find that the infestation is black mold, you need to hire a professional in disaster restoration to come in and inspect the mold and follow their recomendations. Black mold infestations generaly require complete removal of the effected areas to address the problem. Black mold can cause serious and irreversible effects to you and your loved one's health such as respiratory and even memory problems. If you find that it is not black mold, you can try spraying and wiping down the effected areas with a bleach and water solution, which the CDC has recommended for years. This should kill the mold. If you choose this method, be sure to wear a good chemical respirator. It is also very important to have your home inspected to determine why it was infested with mold in the first place. | 26 Nov, 2009 5:42 AM |
| Do you know where I can find free fill dirt in Blacksburg? The best way to locate free fill dirt is to place a sign at the location where the dirt is needed that says "Clean fill dirt needed." Often times, excavating contractors will see these signs and dump their fill dirt there because it may be closer than where they normally take it. If the place you need fill dirt isn't located in a high traffic area, your sign may not get noticed. If this is the case, try contacting a few local excavating contractors and let them know that you need fill dirt. | 24 Nov, 2009 10:23 AM |
